Pipecleaner Cirucits
ISTEP+ Inspiration
I thought it was fantastic that a group of people stayed after school to decorate every sidewalk square around the school with inspiring thoughts for ISTEP+. It is a shame that it is supposed to rain on Tuesday.
- I was surprised by how quickly the class read the textbook today. I expected it to take the entire thirty minutes. It took the students a few minutes to think about what they had learned during this unit. I am glad that my teacher had the popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners for me to borrow for this lesson. I was stalling by having the students reflect on what they had learned so that I could think about where I wanted to go next with this lesson and she jumped in with this idea. I probably would have played the ball game again and made a rule where the students had to be creative and think of a material that had not been used yet. I also would have turned this extra time into a conversation where students give me feedback on which concepts they do not understand yet. In the future, I will have materials ready a day early. If I had had all of the light bulb wires trimmed and lab reports printed, then I could have jumped into creating their test circuits and hypothesizing for whether the items were conductors or insulators.
